Style A Boxy Top

Happy Monday ladies!  I told you I would be back this week and I am happy to be back!  I mentioned in my last post that I found a new found passion, and sewing is definitely it.  After retiring from professional figure skating as a show skater almost 9 years ago, I was really lost as I devoted 15 years to a sport I loved so much.  I really wanted to eventually find something non-strenous on my body that could fulfill my creative side.  Sewing is it, and I am so grateful that I found something I really love doing again in my life.  For those of you who will remain followers and in touch with me, even though I may not be posting more than twice a week, I thank you so much for your support.  I can now get back to this blog a bit and get back to your blogs for a visit to catch up.  :)

Below is my first real project I did and I am so pleased with the results.  I really wanted to make a boxy top for winter while it is still cold and yucky and I like the lighter shades in this plaid print.  I also didn't have enough plaid print to make the full shirt, so I added a solid shade of gray in the back.  I love the two toned look and of course am open for your thoughts as well.

*Style Tips*

1.  The great thing about boxy tops is they work for most body types.  They look great with skinny pants and fitted pencil skirts.

2.  Layering is easy with them as you can throw on a fitted shirt underneath for extra warmth in the Winter.  For Summer, a sleeveless boxy top looks amazing with a short skirt or a pair of pencil ankle pants.

I always say that the best pieces are made of material that you do not have enough because it makes you be creative. And you were. It is very modern style of the top - the combination of these two textiles is genious. It looks so good and your hems are so straight! I'm happy for you that you found sewing because it is my biggest hobby. Today I have a black coat that I made, on my blog.

You put on my blog that you were only 5ft! You must be tiny in real life, you look tall in your photos.

It's great that you're learning to sew, I really wish I had the time so I could use my dress makers doll for something other than coat stand!

It's fab that you were a pro figure skater! I loved watching it growing up. Do you have any pictures/videos/posts about it? I'd love a link if you do.

Wow, great job on this top. I actually love that the back is solid and the front is plaid. I always wished I could sew just so I could alter clothes and make new stuff.

A fgiure skater!! Oh wow Pip, how did I not know this, thats so amazing, you must be brilliant, would have loved to seen a video of yours. Sewing is an art form, Ive tried before and found it isn't for me and I truly admire those who can do it, as well as you do. The top came out wonderfully! Thanks for sharing your opinion with me on your last post.
